David Fialkow is a co-founder and managing director at General Catalyst who is also a two-time Academy Award-winning documentary producer for "Icarus" and "Navalny," bringing his filmmaker's storytelling approach to evaluating and coaching founders on their ability to paint a picture of the future rather than rely on jargon and metrics. Before General Catalyst, he built and sold four companies, and he and co-founder Joel Cutler originally conceived the firm as a vehicle to hatch and build businesses themselves, with many of their biggest wins beginning as ideas they created in-house rather than external investments.
